Associate Project Engineer

Job Summary

The Associate Project Engineer provides project management skills to ensure the successful development and completion of projects within budget and on schedule. They will manage projections from conception, design, procurement, installation, and follow-up.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparation and implementation of the capital budget including justifications, conceptual design, estimating, scope, etc.
  • Manages assigned projects including concept design, sketches or draws layouts and general arrangements. Supervises and checks detailing, researches and specifies equipment and components, writes specifications/contracts/requisitions, solicits bids and makes recommendations to Purchasing. Supervises and coordinates installation and/or start-up. Instructs personnel on operation and maintenance of new equipment, setting up files and spare parts, and controlling budgeted expenditures.
  • Supports local plant in technical matters as assigned, including equipment troubleshooting, critical path scheduling, material selections, strength and mathematical calculations, etc.
  • Maintains plant utility systems.
  • Writes technical reports as required.
  • Maintains department files for reference.
  • Performs any special assignments or duties as directed.
  • Interprets regulations as required, including OSHA, MSHA, UPC, UBC, NFPA, NEC and others.

Education

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Posession of a D1 (Distribution 1) Water Certification or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems as they arise
  • Understands engineering drawings and plans
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Solidworks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to travel as required
Preferred
  • One to three years’ experience in heavy industrial engineering or in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of safety, environmental, and building regulations. Knowledge of construction materials processes, equipment and application.
  • Familiarity with SAP operating system.
