Quality Control Manager

The Manager, Quality Control is a critical member of the NFW Operations team. Our team needs a motivated, highly organized Manager to lead the Quality team into the future. The Quality Control Manager is passionate about making lists and organization, drives implementation of systems, symmetry and productivity, and builds effective teams that embrace our values and company mission. The Quality Control Manager is able to create effective policies and procedures to ensure our manufactured products and raw materials meet the exacting standards of our customers, while creating an environment that team members feel valued and empowered. Additionally, the Quality Control Manager is flexible and comfortable working side by side with team members when needed to constantly improve our capabilities.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Implementation of quality objectives and plans to ensure that all employees are involved in integrating quality into their processes to meet quality objectives.
  • Supports in evaluating and monitoring supplier performance, identifying areas needing improvement and overseeing corrective and preventive actions implemented.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers to obtain scorecards which may entail logon to customer portals to obtain this information.
  • Establish and audit application of critical in process measurements required to predict finished goods quality.
  • Own and improve the NFW Quality Management System and compliance within the QMS structure.
  • Oversee a diverse workforce of Quality Control team members and engineers.
  • Develop, maintain, and report internal scorecard performance.
  • Ensure all team members follow industry standard health and safety guidelines.
  • Provide motivation, support, coaching, and guidance to all team members.
  • Communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management.
  • Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
  • Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Acts as liaison with Research and Development teams to plan and execute applicable material inspections and audits as required for manufacturing excellence.
  • Devising, improving, and reviewing new specifications and procedures.
  • Setting raw material requirements and monitoring compliance.
  • Leads special projects as required.

Requirements
Education/Experience Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of directly related work experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, or an equitable combination of education and experience as required to successfully perform the indicated tasks.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Proven track record of advancing product quality through application of structured problem analysis and countermeasure identification and implementation.
  • Fluent understanding of ANSI/ASQC ISO 9001, with preference for leadership of at least 1 QMS implementation.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members on a one-on-one basis as well as motivate as a group.
  • A working knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing and Six SIGMA tools.
  • Fluency in QAP (Quality at the Process), FMEA, GMP, PPAP, HAACP, and other accepted monitoring and control systems and programs required within effective product manufacturing.
  • Additional preference will be provided for Automotive, Food, Rubber or Textile manufacturing experience.
  • Additional preference will be provided for Six SIGMA certification (minimum Green belt)
  • Additional preference provided for Certification in ANSI/ASQC ISO 9001.
  • Additional preference provided for verifiable LEAN implementation experience.

Work Environment
  • Primarily operates in office and manufacturing environments
  • Some of the work is performed in a shop environment where it may be loud, dusty, hot or cold
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
  • Regularly required to use personal protective equipment
