Machine Operator Shop Support

The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and produce various equipment pieces specified by either a part drawing of blueprint or sketch. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and adjusting or making tool changes as necessary. 

Sets up and operates various milling, lathe or CNC machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select position and secure machinery. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.

May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within Machinist job field. Rely on instructions, schedule and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Work under immediate supervision. Primary job functions does typically require exercising independent judgment, self-directing with open communication skills with various clients but reports to the EGC Construction Manager.

Pay based on knowledge and experience.
Minimum 40-hour weeks with flexibility for extended hours and weekend work.

Job Requirements: 
  • Transport assembled equipment to and from onsite rebuild shop (mechanical and die shop).
  • Fabrications of various machined parts, brackets, guarding, with very high precision tolerances.
  • Perform assembled equipment testing in onsite shop.
  • Must be hands on and highly capable with tools.
  • Keep Fabrication Shop in a clean safe environment at all times.
  • Fabrication shop tool organization is a must. 
  • The machinist is to communicate with the System Owner of what tools are needed to be ordered in a timely manner.
  • Communicate to the customers by email letting the submitters know the parts are ready for pick up and or if there is an issue. Also copy the Owner of the project with all correspondence.
  • Maintain a PM Monthly Log for each machine and maintain a 2 year log of all PM’s. All PM’s must be completed by the Machinist.
  • Must be familiar in using both the standard and metric measuring systems.
  • Normal working hours are Monday - Friday (7:00 am- 3:30 pm)
  • Notify the Site EGC Construction Manager when there are any issues.

Skill Requirements:
  • Machining and fabrication capability
  • Capable of using Bridgeport mills, lathes, surface grinders, CNC 2 & 3 axis mills, band saws / table saws.
  • MIG & TIG Welding of various brackets with-in high tolerances would be a plus!
  • Power tool skills
  • Read blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Attention to details
  • Teamwork, receive additional Training as needed.
  • Work independently, self-directed
  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Follow specific technical work procedures
  • Must know how to use Auto Cad & Solid Edge 
  • Crane operator qualified

Abilities:
  • Possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities
  • Basic Computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel & Power Point.
  • Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 40 lbs., seeing and reading
