Engineer - Electrical Software Design
Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Software Design) to support our North American location in Wooster, OH. This position is responsible for design, development, startup, and support of custom machinery manufactured onsite.
Key duties include but not limited to:
- Conceive and design automation solutions such as those involving custom PLC software, HMI software, servo controls, hydraulic controls, measurement/inspection sensors, and interfaces to additional systems.
- Directly develop software, handle system startups, and troubleshoot new equipment as well as modifications and upgrades to existing equipment.
- Must have excellent understanding of systems integration and automation engineering techniques.
Qualified candidiates will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Advanced engineering & physics knowledge
- Superior knowledge of systems integration strategies, concepts, and techniques
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with design of custom equipment for manufacturing including assembly, inspection, process control, etc.
- Software experience with Siemens TIA Portal & Step7, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, MS Office, etc.
- Hardware experience with Siemens 1500 series PLCs, servo drive systems, industrial networking (Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet, etc.) PID controls, power distribution systems, etc.
- Electrical design experience with JIC symbology, IEC experience a plus
- Experience with Risk Level Assessment, codes, and regulations for industrial equipment safety
- Must have a meticulous attention to detail and a continuous improvement focus
- Assertive approach to solve problems
- Ability to influence and guide while being open to technical feedback
- Results oriented, self-motivated, and organized work ethic
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
