Senior Research and Development Scientist

We are seeking an experienced experimental scientist to join the internal Form Futures group, with a small team of creative innovators who are  researching next-generation cathode materials and cell designs. The ideal candidate will dive into hands-on lab work, using and developing electrochemical and materials characterization techniques to assess, understand, and improve cathode performance. Materials characterization techniques include XRD, SEM, and BET. Electrochemical techniques include electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT), and galvanostatic cycling.  This candidate is creative, safety-conscious, and works with attention to details, to documentation, and to learning.

What you'll do:

Design and execute experiments to probe the performance of new cathode materials
Work with team to improve established procedures for building electrochemical cells
Characterize cells in order to build mechanistic understanding of the system
Collaborate with external research partners
Use python scripts to quantitatively analyze and visualize data

What you'll need:

PhD required in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or similar field
Experience with electrochemical testing and materials characterization of oxide cathodes preferred
Experience working in interdisciplinary teams
Fluency in Python, Matlab, or R for analyzing data is a plus
Experience designing experimental instrumentation and methods
