Responsibilities


  • Serve as a Training Specialist, responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive curriculum material for unique underwater sensor systems and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV). Serve as team lead for the development of operator training materials and for providing operator training.
  • Participate in formal documentation through the development of test and maintenance procedures and formal work packages. Participate in the development of technical documentation and manuals to support operation and maintenance of unique underwater sensors and UUVs.
  • Participate in system testing, maintenance and training onboard an Operational Training Platform and/or on US Navy platforms. Provide field engineering support; use manuals and automated electronic tools to troubleshoot, assemble and repair electromechanical assemblies, computers and computer networks.
  • Perform liaison tasks with sponsoring organizations as well as preparing and presenting formal progress and status briefs covering on-going activities.
  • Establish working relationships with vendors, program sponsors, project partner organizations, and system operators from the US Navy.
  • Research and incorporate new technologies for system enhancements.
  • Other related functions as assigned.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience in the test, evaluation, operation and training for sophisticated Navy systems, including underwater acoustic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop detailed course material for operation of Navy systems using Navy standard protocols for course organization, material processes and procedures based on information provided by engineering staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to train end-users in sonar system operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and execute installation, test and maintenance procedures of complex systems using formal Navy systems and processes, including expertise in developing and applying system level operation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Ten or more years of experience in the operation, testing, maintenance and repair of underwater acoustic sensor systems and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to interact effectively and coordinate activities with Navy enlisted personnel and officers as well as contractor system providers.
  • Familiarity with US Navy NAVEDTRA 130, NAVEDTRA 131 and NAVEDTRA 136 curriculum development standards.
  • Qualified as a US Navy Master Training Specialist
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy (JFMM and 3M) processes and procedures for the installation, test, maintenance, repair and removal of electronics equipment.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy processes for procedure generation for installation, test, operation, maintenance, repair, and removal of electronics equipment, including Temporary Alteration (TEMPALT) and Ship Alteration (SHIPALT).
