Research Scientist

Trimer Technologies is a multidisciplinary research company located in Ann Arbor, MI that specializes in the development of high-performance resin chemistries for fiber reinforced composites, electronics and FST rated structures.  Our engineers merge materials science and engineering to solve problems in the aerospace, automotive, defense and energy fields.

We are seeking a self-motivated engineer to participate in Research and Development efforts focused on high performance thermosetting polymers and fiber reinforced composites. Trimer has current research efforts with the Army, NASA, Navy and Department of Energy focused on advanced materials and structures and requires an individual who is comfortable working in an experimental facility where cross disciplinary research is performed. Current R&D programs are focused on the development of polymers to enable rapid manufacture of lightweight composite automotive parts, pultruded spars for wind turbine blades and non-flammable composites for naval structures as well as nano-materials for strength enhancement of fiber reinforced composites. 

Trimer provides a dynamic work environment that focuses on basic and applied research and provides employees with intellectual freedom to expand the company’s research direction. A MS or PhD in Mechanical, Materials Science, Electrical, Chemical or Macromolecular Engineering is desired and strong written and oral communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with materials processing, manufacturing and testing and have experience in ASTM testing of materials, CNC machining.  The position requires hands on work across a broad range of challenging topics and therefore requires an individual who has an aptitude for the fabrication of mechanical and electric systems and can work independently. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position is full-time and located in Ann Arbor, MI and full benefits including retirement, health insurance, vacation, holiday and sick leave etc. are provided. This position requires US citizenship or permanent residency.
