Your Role:
As the Senior Bioprocess Engineer, you will serve as a key technical contact for biopharmaceutical customers/clients on critical downstream purification projects.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and documenting best practices and improved methods for the full range of MilliporeSigma’s products targeted to the bioprocessing and pharmaceutical industries to accelerate process development, scale-up, and implementation.
  • Generating proof statements in support of product and equipment performance characteristics.
  • Evaluating unit operations and process trains holistically to develop integrated process solutions leveraging the range of MilliporeSigma’s chemicals, devices, systems, and expertise; and to identify opportunities for new product development or enhancement.
  • Perform prioritized competitive analysis to enable better product positioning and better new product justification and definition. 
 
Additionally, you act as the key interface for Sales, R&D and Marketing Groups for Voice of the Customer and Market Trends by keeping abreast of the latest development in chromatography technologies including continuous chromatography and linked chromatography processes. You proactively seek out thought leadership opportunities to advance the industry “state of the art” and act as an interface with local and international MSAT colleagues to ensure a common Best Practices technical approach for application development and implementation.
The star candidate will recommend continuous improvement in both tools and methodologies. 
 
This position serves as a member of a small team (6-8) of technical subject matter experts for MilliporeSigma’s technologies and has a strong downstream purification focus.
 
Based in Burlington, Massachusetts, approximately 20-30% travel is required.
 
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemical, Biochemical Engineering or Biochemistry
  • BS with 8+ years relevant Postgraduate experience, MS with 5-7 yrs, PhD with 3-5 yr.
  • Strong background and practical experience in the purification of proteins & biomolecules
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • The candidate will have in depth knowledge of process development, scale up and implementation of bioprocess downstream purification technology
  • An understanding of pharmaceutical/biotechnology regulatory and quality issues including GLP and GMP is a plus an advantage
  • The candidate will possess a sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals, an understanding of process economics and process validation
  • Have a demonstrated ability to design experiments and troubleshoot operational issues
  • Understand scaling issues, constraints and sizing techniques relating to all MilliporeSigma applications
  • Possess a current and high level of technical competency in our markets, applications and products
  • The candidate must possess an ability to take ownership of complex projects involving diverse groups of individuals
  • Can produce presentation quality reports in a timely fashion
  • Possess well-developed verbal, listening and written communication skills and excellent customer facing skills
