Technical Product Specialist

This role will act as the primary technology expert for one or more product lines within engineered materials. He or she will provide technology guidance to other teams within Celanese such as the commercial team, business management, stewardship, manufacturing, quality and others to achieve business goals and to make business decisions. 

Responsibilities:

 
  • Work with external and internal customers to translate functional requirements to product requirements and identify opportunities. Assist in identifying material solutions for customer applications.
  • The individual will provide technical support of new application development, customer qualification and specification, and business-critical manufacturing and supply issues to internal and external customers.
  • The individual will also establish and maintain internal product release criteria in line with manufacturing capabilities and customer requirements for commercial products and new products under development.
  • He or she will be the primary steward of product data quality, communication and enable connections of product attributes to new customers and applications. The individual will support Celanese customers in product positioning for end-use applications in Automotive, Medical, Consumer, and Industrial market segments.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of experience/expertise in thermoplastics manufacturing, product development, application development, and/or product management of engineering polymers
  • Bachelor's degree in materials, polymer, chemistry, or chemical engineering
  • Ability to align objectives across business, commercial and technical functions
  • Familiarity with polymers analytical and material property testing methods
  • Ability to rapidly learn and assess new applications for product fit or new product need
  • Knowledge of engineering plastics for automotive, consumer, medical, and/or industrial markets. 
  • Knowledge of injection molding
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, for internal and external customers.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team to achieve common goals within the timeline and budget.
 
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of plastics compounding with twin screw extruder highly desired
  • Master’s degree in materials, polymer, chemistry, or chemical engineering preferred, PhD a plus
