ASC Center for Career and Professional Success 
Senior Peer Career Coach 2021-2022
The Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success (Career Success) is currently recruiting for Senior Peer Career Coaches (SPCCs) for the 2021-2022 academic year. As a Senior PCC, you will gain valuable training and career knowledge to help your peers who engage with Career Success while you develop leadership skills as you coordinate the work of the PCCs, undergraduate student staff who cover weekly Express Resume Reviews. Work as a Senior PCC will contribute to your own personal professional success. In-depth training and guidance will be provided to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to perform the responsibilities listed below.  
  
RESPONSIBILITIES 
·      Assist diverse undergraduate Arts and Sciences students with resume and cover letter development during weekly Express Resume Reviews. 
·      Develop your coaching skills to assess where students are in their internship/job search process.  
·      Availability and commitment to participate in training meetings with other Peer Career Coaches and professional office staff (meetings are held weekly in the Autumn and intermittently in the Spring). 
·      Perform outreach and communication to academic departments, student organizations, and alumni.  
·      Assist with finding presenters for student group presentations.
·      Be comfortable facilitating specific career-focused presentations for student groups with the potential to co-present other workshops throughout the academic school year.
·      Demonstrate knowledge of Career Success events and Handshake, the online job and internship database for Ohio State students. 
·      Research and recommend catering options for events. 
·      Serve in a leadership role to coordinate and assist with PCC weekly schedule and serve as co-lead and contact for PCCs.
·      Ability to commit to leading and creating Spring semester weekly training meetings for PCCs.
·      Present Networking with Impact sessions as scheduled throughout the semester.
·      Utilize a digital toolkit to create needed documents and promote Career Success events. 
·      Assist coach in the Fall semester with organizing weekly training meetings with the expectation to take ownership of facilitating weekly training in Spring 2021.
·      Assist with event planning, management, and set-up. 
·      Utilize Handshake to send promotional emails and enter information about events for students to view.
·      Prepare materials for various events.
·      Assist with daytime and evening Career Success events, fairs, etc. as schedule and availability permits. 
·      Attend mutually agreed upon check-in meetings with your Career Coach for guidance and project work. 
·      Educate students on Readiness Competencies, interviewing best practices, and resources relevant to professional presentation. 
·      Become an expert in referring students to services and programs provided by Career Success and key service departments. 
·      Demonstrate to students how to use Handshake for their job/internship searches and and VMock, an electronic resume review system.  
·      Introduce students to the Center’s ten career communities and explain the benefits of joining a career community.
 
  
QUALIFICATIONS 
·      ASC student: undergraduate junior or senior status 
·      At least 6 months of demonstrated experience with event planning and management 
·      3.0 minimum GPA 
·      Must have the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a team of professionals. 
·      Be able to work independently and take initiative. 
·      Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines. 
·      Ability to speak publicly and conduct group presentations. 
·      Demonstrated competencies writing in English (i.e., B+ or above in a writing intensive course, minimum ACT score of 21 in the English Section, majoring in Humanities with a minimum major GPA of 3.3) 
·      Interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with students one-on-one and in group settings 
·      Demonstrated competencies in providing one-on-one assistance (i.e., past roles involving counseling, advising, mentoring, or tutoring) 
·      Comfortable delivering brief, information-based presentations in front of small groups (ranging in size from 5-40) 
·      Flexibility to responding to a variety of demands 
·      Ability to commit at least 8-10 hours per week
