Peer Career Coach Program 2021-2022
  
The Arts and Sciences Center for Career and Professional Success (Career Success) is currently recruiting for Peer Career Coaches (PCCs) for the 2021-2022 academic year. As a PCC you will gain valuable training and career knowledge to not only help your peers but also assist with your own personal professional success. Training and guidance will be provided to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to perform the responsibilities listed below.  
  
RESPONSIBILITIES 
·      Assist diverse undergraduate Arts and Sciences students with resume and cover letter development, through in-person/virtual interactions and email communications during weekly Express Resume Reviews.
·      Educate students on Readiness Competencies, interviewing best practices, and resources relevant to professional presentation.
·      Develop your coaching skills to assess where students are in their internship/job search process.  
·      Assigned duties will be split between one-on-one peer coaching and event support.
·      Participate in training meetings with other Peer Career Coaches and professional office staff (meetings are held weekly in the Autumn and intermittently in the Spring). 
·      Utilize a digital toolkit to promote Career Success events. 
·      Assist with event management set-up and tear down.
·      Utilize Handshake to send promotional e-mails.
·      Prepare materials for various events (ex: career handouts, bio sheets etc…).
·      Receive individualized training during your first 6 weeks from assigned Career Coach. 
·      Attend mutually agreed upon check-in meetings with your Career Coach for guidance and project work. 
·      Become an expert in referring students to services, tip sheets and signature programs provided by Career Success and key service departments. 
·      Demonstrate to students how to use Handshake for their job/internship searches and and VMock, an electronic resume review system.  
·      Introduce students to the Center’s ten career communities and explain the benefits of joining a career community.
  
QUALIFICATIONS 
  
·         ASC student: undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior status 
·         3.0 minimum GPA 
·         Strong attention to detail
·         Demonstrated competencies writing in English (i.e., B+ or above in a writing intensive course, minimum ACT score of 21 in the English Section, majoring in Humanities with a minimum major GPA of 3.3) 
·         Interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with students one-on-one and in group settings 
·         Demonstrated competencies in providing one-on-one assistance (i.e., past roles involving counseling, advising, mentoring, or tutoring) 
·         Comfortable delivering brief, information-based presentations in front of small groups (ranging in size from 5-40) 
·         Flexibility to responding to a variety of demands 
·         Ability to commit at least (6) hours per week
