PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Resident
The PGY1 residency is a one year program designed to provide a broad pharmaceutical care experience. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Experiential training in pharmaceutical care is provided by practicing clinicians in a wide variety of patient care areas. Barnes-Jewish provides a well-rounded experience and opportunities to learn from a large number of highly-qualified preceptors.
Required experiences:
- Internal medicine
- Drug information
- Critical care
- Infectious Diseases
- Antimicrobial stewardship/Pharmacy administration
- Ambulatory care or Internal medicine II
Numerous elective experiences are available to each resident to complete their training. In order to provide an individualized approach to post-graduate education, the specific needs and goals of each resident will be assessed and a program will be designed for each individual.
In addition to clinical experiences, residents will complete a residency project, participate in didactic and experiential teaching and gain writing and drug policy experience. Barnes-Jewish Hospital participates in the ASHP residency matching program for the PGY1 residency.
