Environmental / Ecological Risk Assessor

Our Northeast Environmental group is looking for an Ecological/Environmental Risk Assessor to join their team in North Wales, PA. This is a great opportunity to make an impact on the community in which we live.
 
At GHD, our Risk Assessors are typically engaged in projects that apply risk assessment and risk management strategies to support contaminated site decision-making under Federal, state and international site cleanup programs. This includes supporting and implementing site characterization and remedial action projects that involve efforts to identify and control potentially unacceptable human and ecological exposures to chemicals in the environment.
 
Such projects involve addressing soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water contamination; performing fate/transport and exposure modeling (including vapor intrusion, air emission and dispersion); statistical analysis; spatial analysis; developing remediation/risk management plans; and providing technical support for multiple and diverse project teams.
 
Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Evaluating large environmental datasets
  • Interpreting site characterization data
  • Performing statistical and spatial data analysis
  • Performing contaminant fate/transport and exposure modeling
  • Quantitatively evaluating human health risks
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports and other written communications
  • Performing environmental sampling
 
For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field (i.e., Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, etc.)
  • 0-3 years of environmental consulting experience; knowledge or experience in human health risk assessment, environmental fate and transport modeling, statistical data analysis and sampling design, or atmospheric dispersion modeling is a plus, but not required
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet, database and geographic information systems (GIS) applications software
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects and tasks in a fast paced environment
