Position Summary


Lab Assistants provide vital data to the Antibody Discovery teams which drives validation efforts and
streamlines product releases. Working under a team leader, they execute centralized workflows
utilizing western blot, immunoprecipitation, and related techniques to deliver consistent, high quality
results. The position includes the assessment of antibody performance and utility in selected assays,
preparing samples for collaboration efforts, organizing and inventorying lysates and other laboratory
materials, and queue management. Lab Assistants may also coordinate the testing of other
commercialization efforts including workflow solutions, assay kits, and sourced materials.
 

Responsibilities


  • Perform experiments in support of our product development efforts to enable the assessment of antibody performance and utility in selected assays (e.g. western blotting)
  • Effectively contribute to the management of the team’s queue of experimental requests by completing assigned requests
  • Provide quality experimental data in a timeframe consistent with established service level agreements
  • Facilitate polyclonal and monoclonal antibody screening and selection of materials suitable for pipeline progression
  • Understand and utilize standard operating protocols and laboratory practices designed to enable efficient product development processes, reduced cycle times, higher quality output, and cost savings
  • Contribute to and identify opportunities that lead to more efficient, scalable workflows and processes
  • Understand project goals and components including cell validation systems, target controls and comparison antibodies
  • Ensure standards of gel and western format utilize materials efficiently
  • Follow good laboratory practices
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation in accordance with CST policy

Qualifications


  • Biotechnology certification, HS diploma from trade school w/ concentration in Biotechnology or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team setting
  • Computer proficiency including working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Docs, or related applications

  • Demonstrates broad scientific skillset and displays fundamental understanding of biological processes
  • Ability to design, perform, and troubleshoot experiments independently
