Group Leader Automation

Position Summary


Cell Signaling Technology seeks a talented Automation Specialist who is excited by the vision CST has for scaling its antibody discovery and validation processes. The Automation Specialist should be motivated by the challenge of scaling and improving the efficiency of our core pipelines. The role offers an opportunity to lead a small team that serves as a centralized resource for automation. You will be responsible for working with scientists across CST to identify opportunities and to develop integrated, automated workflow solutions that will improve sample handling, data flow and the scale of their processes. In addition, you will support and maintain existing robotic instrumentation, validate and QC automated protocols, and train users on workflows and best practices. This is a cross-functional, team-oriented position that requires excellent communication skills and an ability to interface with scientists, IT groups and others across CST.

Responsibilities


  • Identify and champion opportunities to automate and integrate existing and future workflows
  • Work with stakeholders to incorporate automation into new workflows as they are developed
  • Write software to drive laboratory robotics
  • Work with stakeholders to validate and QC automated protocols
  • Support and maintain automation hardware
  • Train users on automated processes and best practices
  • Write software for data acquisition and processing

Qualifications


  • BS or MS in engineering, molecular biology or related life science
  • Experience with laboratory automation hardware solutions
  • 3+ years of experience implementing laboratory automation and developing integrated workflow solutions in a life sciences industry setting
 

Preferred Skills/Background


  • Leadership experience managing a scientific or automation team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with operating and coding Hamilton robotics or equivalent
  • Experience with LIMS systems
  • Familiarity with antibody discovery platforms
  • Familiarity with a variety laboratory techniques and practices (ie. molecular cloning, NGS, cell culture, imaging, etc.)
