Water Resources Engineer - Need P.E.

Job Opening: Water Resources Engineer

MAD Scientist Associates (MAD) is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to develop plan drawings and bid sets as well as perform basic modeling and analysis tasks for wetland and stream restoration along with green infrastructure projects. As our engineer, you will work closely with our ecological restoration staff to get our team-developed site concepts into high quality formal plans. This is a part-time position, with the potential to develop into full-time. Our ideal candidate will have their P.E. license and basic familiarity with wetland and/or stream restoration (natural channel) design. As part of our experienced, multi-disciplinary team, it is not imperative that you be proficient in ecological restoration. We seek a motivated, caring, team-oriented engineer who wants to Make A Difference for our growing ecological restoration practice. We think this position could be a perfect opportunity for an early-career engineer wanting to gain experience in the restoration field or a more-seasoned engineer who is interested in a part-time position as they lean into retirement.

Candidate must:
• Be proficient in AutoCAD or VectorWorks and GIS (HydroCAD experience helpful but not required)
• Be able to contribute to the inter-disciplinary planning process for ecological restoration projects and capture the details of these restoration plans in detailed drawings and bid sets
• Be familiar with grading plans, cut and fill calculations, and wetland and stream hydrology
• Be willing to learn about regulatory compliance and assist with permitting-related tasks
• Have experience with best management practices and development of stormwater pollution prevention plans
• Be self-motivated, positive, and team-oriented
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a keen focus on details
• Demonstrate time management and follow-through skills
• Be willing to travel on occasion
• Be flexible regarding work assignments and willing to assist where needed (we’re a small company, and our staff must “wear many hats”)
Qualifications
• BS or MS in environmental, ecological, civil or related engineering discipline
• P.E. license (preferably in Ohio)
• 3-5 years (or more) of professional experience
• Valid driver’s license
