The South Dakota State Veterans Home in Hot Springs is seeking to fill a pharmacy technician position to aid the onsite pharmacist with the following duties computer data entry and reconciliation in 3 separate computer systems (McKesson, American Data and EPIC), retrieval of medication orders both electronically and from the care units, and preparation of medications and delivery throughout our facility. 
This preparation includes extensive preparation of unit dosing cards. Technicians will need to bill third party payors for prescription costs, prepare med minders for independent residents, and regularly check supply and dating on medication carts and supply cupboards throughout the facility.
This position works in health care setting with a mix of standing and sitting.

Licenses and Certifications:
Active South Dakota Pharmacy Technician license and ability to be CPR certified.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
The ideal candidate will have an interest in working in a pharmacy specializing in long term care and will interacting with patients and health care professionals on a daily basis and therefore must be both outgoing and have a professional rapport with good phone skills. This position is technology heavy and so an ability to learn new computer systems and workflows is a must. This work setting demands the highest attention to detail and accuracy. Previous pharmacy work experience and good references are a plus. 
Knowledge of:
  • a variety of pharmacy and health care specific computer systems and highly detail oriented.
Skill to:
  • work with people;
  • communicate effectively;
  • use a computer.
Ability to:
  • receive and break down freight;
  • lift at least 25 pounds.
