Welding Engineer

Tenneco, Inc. has recently acquired Federal Mogul. We are looking for an Entry Level Welding Engineer. In this position you will learn to specify, purchase, implement, and support automated arc welding systems use, in a high volume automotive component manufacturing environment. This person will work in tool & fixture design and equipment modification to support product changes, prepares estimates for capital, labor, and timing to support the new business quoting process. In this role you will learn and support new customer programs through APQP and validate process changes through PPAP. Our welding engineers write appropriation requests to secure funding for improvements to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Additionally, you will work on a team who assists with interpreting results of destructive and non-destructive testing and metallographic tests and will lead plant efforts to determine root cause and eliminate welding and process related downtime, scrap and rework. We are looking for someone who has recently graduated with a degree in welding engineering, and is eager to learn and willing to take direction.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Working with weld tool/fixture and welding process development.
  • Working with CAD and GD&T.
  • Understanding of GMAW & GTAW
  • Learning and applying common automotive welding standards.
  • Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations.
  • Ability to learn and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel in support of job function (plants, customers, suppliers etc.) 
 
 
Required Experience
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering required
