Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor Serving Siskiyou County (AP# 20-04)
Location Headquarters: Siskiyou County, Yreka, California
Purpose: The Livestock and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension (CE) advisor will conduct extension and applied research to make a positive impact related to:
- The interaction of beef cattle and small ruminant production systems with water quality, water quantity, and riparian health to enhance ecosystem services of irrigated pasture and rangelands;
- The integration of livestock grazing practices and adaptive management strategies for potential climatic, environmental, and socioeconomic challenges that exist now and may arise in the future;
- Applied grazing management practices to reduce fire fuel loads, control invasive species, and meet wildlife conservation objectives;
- Sustainable livestock production as it relates to animal health and well-being, nutrition, genetic selection, reproductive efficiency, and marketing.

Required Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a master's degree is required in Animal Science, Rangeland Ecology, Watershed Management, or another related field.
Certification: Ability to obtain a Certified Rangeland Manager Certification within five years of date of hire is required; please see: http://casrm.rangelands.org/HTML/certified.html
