Pharmaceutical English Trainer In Tokyo (Autumn 2021)

Where are you planning to be in 2021? Excited by the chance to live and work in Tokyo? How about an exciting, unique, career-related and very personally rewarding job for a year or longer training Japanese executives from leading Japanese pharmaceutical companies to more effectively communicate about pharmaceutical/healthcare issues with their global counterparts? Seminars are delivered in English.

The primary purpose of our pharmaceutical industry specific seminars is to train Japanese executives to use the English terminology commonly used in such areas as drug discovery and drug development research, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, drug safety and pharmacovigilance, and many other aspects of pharmaceutical business. IES seminars also cover subjects such as planning and managing clinical trials, CMC, GMP, post marketing quality assurance, and pharmaceutical sales and marketing, etc. Working with our pharmaceutical trainers, IES has authored textbooks in all these areas. Graduates in retail and hospital pharmacy, biochemistry, biochemical sciences, biotechnology, medicine and related healthcare disciplines with more than two years’ industry experience in any of the above areas are encouraged to apply for teaching positions starting from Spring 2021. Arrival dates throughout 2021 are however flexible/negotiable

Types of assignments will depend on client requests. You will be given extensive teacher training on arrival supplemented with regular feedback and counseling. You will be trained to use a small group, communicative, English-only, coaching-based approach. Detailed training plans and in-house learning materials will be provided. Administrative assistance with class logistics will be provided by our bilingual Japanese course coordinators.

You will earn at least the Japanese Yen (JPY) equivalent of US$32,000.00 annually. Compensation is paid monthly in JPY (income tax deductions will be about 5-7%; sales tax is 10%; automobile ownership unnecessary). You will be offered an annual, renewable contract which includes work-visa sponsorship, paid vacations, subsidized health insurance payments (Japan’s national plan covers 70% of medical/dental fees), contract fulfillment bonus (to help cover cost of flights etc.), and travel expenses to/from teaching assignments. You will also receive comprehensive assistance with your work-visa submission, hotel and other arrival arrangements, finding accommodation (average rent about US$750/month), and other settling-in challenges.

We are looking for individuals with pharmaceutical/biotechnology degrees, experience and excellent personable and communicative skills. Minimum immigration requirements to secure the necessary work-visa are 12 years of primary/secondary education in English, a BA/BS degree certificate from an accredited university in an English speaking country, and sponsorship by IES. Special consideration will also be given to each candidate’s personality and demonstrable interest in and exposure to Japanese culture and Japanese citizens.
