Industrial Maintenance Lab Assistant

The Industrial Maintenance Lab Assistant performs a variety of skilled maintenance duties related to the repair, overhaul, upkeep and maintenance of lab equipment. Internal and external events occasionally necessitate an altered work schedule which may include weekend and holiday work. At times, limited supervision is provided; must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain and repairs Industrial Control Boards to include: Electro-Mechanical Controls, Starters, Drives, sensors, PLC’s, and robotics and automation equipment. Mechanical equipment to include Pneumatic and Hydraulic Trainers systems and components, Pumps, compressors, valves. General Maintenance and cleaning are also required.
  • Perform routine and complex equipment overhauls according to budget, and time and material standards established for the job.Utilizes data from all sources to recommend changes to the schedule for equipment overhauls.
  • Assist on projects related to new equipment installation, major overhauls, or other projects as assigned.
  • Effectively communicate and work as a team member with instructors and program director, operators and other co-workers in order to acquire information on the symptoms of equipment performance, and uses this information to affect repairs that reduce equipment downtime and repeat repairs.
  • Other duties as signed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • One year of experience programming CNCs, Automation Equipment, or Robotics.
  • Ability to use electronic test equipment, basic hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to work safely and independently without supervision.
