Hugo | Industrial Designer
Corgan is actively recruiting an Industrial Designer to join our growing Hugo team. We are looking for an upcoming or recent graduate (0-2 years of experience). As an Industrial Designer, you will work under the direction of the Hugo Director to create data-driven design solutions, prototype user experiences, create and prototype user products, and foster innovative research that adds value to our projects and clients.
What You’ll Bring:
- Professional degree with a focus in Industrial Design, Human-Centered Design, Architecture, or Engineering
- Experience working in the Architecture or Interior Design industry is a plus
- Experience (familiarity) with User Experience Research, Design Strategy and/ or Evidence Based Design
- Experience creating iterative prototypes for user experimentation, both in virtual reality and in physical modeling
- Design visualization, graphic design, manufacturing, environmental design, model making, and human interaction skills will be required
- Strong understanding and knowledge of the manufacturing process
- A passion for designing products that are safe, useful, and thoughtfully and efficiently manufactured
- Experience with design and implementation, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, AutoCad, Revit or other #-D modeling programs is preferred
- Experience using a laser-cutter, 3D printer, CNC mill, and other model shop equipment is preferred
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with internal employees, the Corgan Model Shop Coordinator, and other experts in certain fields of study to conduct research and prototype situational user experiences
- Develop installations to be experimented with in the field, and conduct observations regarding the user behavior
- Assist in visioning workshops and/or critique sessions to help with vision support
- Explore new subjects, draw conclusions and use critical thinking to create new ideas for our clients
- Provide support to director by providing design input, prototyping solutions, and conducting experiments for studio projects
- Research sector-specific and project-specific equipment needs, conduct meetings with manufacturers to observe and test equipment, and provide data-driven solutions for client considerations
- Conduct risk profile analysis
- Decipher efficient ways to gather information and present findings to clients
- Conduct explorations for prototyping and material investigations
