Junior Sustainment Engineer

This position is dual located at The Advanced Technology and Training Center – Middle Georgia and the Robins Air Force Base, in Warner Robins, Georgia. It provides engineering support for aircraft and vehicle sustainment technology development and transition including vehicle maintenance, aircraft maintenance and ground support equipment. Under the leadership of a senior engineer, this role will:
- Support sustainment technology development and integration projects related to aerospace systems (including ground support equipment) corrosion prevention and control
- Support maintenance and/or manufacturing process optimization, including organic and inorganic coating application and removal
- Support materials performance assessments
- Develop and execute project plans, plan and manage qualification testing
- Participate in training and community outreach events
- Develop long-term product implementation strategies

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications for P1
- BS in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, Corrosion, or Chemical engineering or engineering technology or related engineering/engineering technology field)
- Ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Familiar with creating and executing component and system level validation test plans
- Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, NC machining, forging, heat treat and additive manufacturing for metals and/or plastics
- Familiar with data collection, analysis, and problem-solving
- Familiar with reading and editing technical orders, process documentation, and military specifications
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge in Excel and other MS Office Suite programs
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in ambiguous project environments
- Demonstrated successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills
- Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required
- Valid driver’s license with a low risk driving record
- Ability to pass and maintain active US Security Clearance
Minimum requirements for P2:
- BS in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials, Corrosion, or Chemical engineering or engineering technology or related engineering/engineering technology field)

- 4+ years of experience in process documentation and process development
-3+ years of related engineering experience

- Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis, and problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications:
P1 Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or higher degree in technical field
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- 2+ years engineering/technical project management experience
- Working knowledge of US Air Force aircraft maintenance, sustainment, and acquisition policies and procedures
- 2+ years aircraft maintenance or corrosion management experience
- 3+ years health, safety, and environmental experience in aircraft maintenance or aircraft manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated success in establishing and managing sponsor and stakeholder expectations
P2 Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or higher degree in technical field
- Working knowledge of US Air Force aircraft maintenance, sustainment, and acquisition policies and procedures
- 4+ years engineering/technical project management experience
- 4+ years aircraft maintenance or corrosion management experience
- 5+ years engineering experience
- Experience using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and interpreting resistance data
- Demonstrated success in establishing and managing stakeholder expectations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with MS SharePoint
