Engineering Intern
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Westport is an engineering startup that provides Welding and NDE Inspection subject matter expertise to our clients in various industries, including Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Nuclear, and other fabrication industries. We are looking for an intern with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong commitment to a career in engineering: design, manufacturing or production support.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work under the supervision and in consultation of senior Westport Technical authorities
- Perform Weld Procedures (WPS) reviews against applicable laws, relevant codes, and customer specification
- Participate in risk assessments and prepare justification packages to support deviation from client specifications for clients consideration
- Perform technical process audits of supplier welding and NDT processes at global supplier locations, witnessing the welding and process, documenting non-conformances and ensuring supplier implementation of corrective actions.
- Contributes to and initiates continuous improvement activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
- Must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA
- Meet required degree of Welding Engineering or Material Science and Engineering major
- Attending a full time matriculated and nationally accredited baccalaureate or graduate program
- Completed one full year of college (rising sophomore)
Minimum experience, knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Computer Experience in the Microsoft Office Programs.
- Must be detail-oriented, have great written and verbal communication skills.
- A team player with high integrity and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to interact with a supervisor and customers.
- Must be an aggressive self-starter and have a strong work ethic.
