Are you interested in a world class research and design experience applying high performance metals to demanding real world applications? This position involves developing the next generation of materials for nuclear propulsion systems, as well as supporting projects currently being built, and providing technical support for the US Navy's operating nuclear reactors. You will join a team of experienced engineers and scientists with a long history of solving challenging problems. The work includes materials testing, materials selection, and failure analysis. Metallurgical training is essential. Areas of interest include heat treatment, fatigue, embrittlement, fracture mechanics, welding, and aqueous corrosion. Positions in our organization are special because of the wide variety of challenges we face, and the exceptional array of resources available to apply to each problem. Our campus has over one hundred people dedicated to materials science, and the testing facilities to match. The successful candidate will have above-average writing skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to draw out the best in others.
