Quality Engineer - RSS-2655

With limited supervision, uses extensive technical skill knowledge, expertise and broad in-depth knowledge of quality techniques as applied to machine shop, welding, castings, finishes, assembly and other related processes. Knowledge of quality systems used in the manufacturing environment is required. Provides technical support for Suppliers, Inspectors, Management and other personnel as needed. Prepares graphs and visualization to support defect reduction and continuous improvement.
 
Job Requirements:
 
  • Provides quality support to Inspection, Warehouse, Materials, Procurement, Manufacturing and Warranty. Evaluates technical quality problems, develops and documents solutions to such problems, which could be engineering changes or quality system procedures.
  • Works closely with Suppliers and Procurement to evaluate and resolve technical problems, including occasional trips to supplier's facilities in the US or outside the US. Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Expert understanding of machine shop practices, threads, surface finishes, measuring techniques, inspection techniques, castings processes. Knowledge of electronics and hydraulic systems helpful.
  • Participates as a key team member in completion/resolution of large, consequential quality system projects. Many such projects require procedures to be written as company standards.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled audits of operations and supplier processes, to assure compliant product and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to work across a broad spectrum of personnel to resolve technical issues.
  • Familiar with Lean/TPS concepts, experience in ISO 9001 auditing.
  • SAP, WMS, CRM experience helpful.


 
Education/Experience:
 
Bachelor's Degree in an applicable engineering field, computer science, or a professional license, with a minimum of 3-5 years engineering experience.
