Distribution Center Industrial Engineer

Overview

This position is primarily aligned to major process improvement projects for HBI US and global facilities and the management of major projects that have system-wide impact. Such projects include but are not limited to new facility design and facility start up, redesign of existing facilities maximizing work space, implementation of work flow best practice, evaluation and implementation of labor management systems, evaluation of future state-capital equipment and process redesign, facility exit planning and serving as a consultant to business process improvements. 

Responsibilities

  • Project Manage multiple projects simultaneously and possibly within multiple facilities. Responsible for, but not limited to, the following aspects of assigned projects: financials, schedules, vendor coordination, implementation, team updates, problem solving, resources and services, data analysis, and reports.
  • Distribution center start up and/or exit planning.
  • Consult on facility specific layout changes by developing CAD layouts of proposed changes and interacting with DC Operations Group to develop optimal solutions.
  • Develop and/or update system tools which enable the expedient retrieval and summarization of operational data.
  • Acquired businesses facility-specific assessment of systems and processes and the development and implementation of strategies and plans to maximize distribution function capacity and efficiencies.
  • Project management of assigned process improvement activities for any assigned distribution center in the US and/or Central America.
  • Facility and/or system-specific equipment long range planning including research and analysis on both current equipment as well as researching new technology for implementation in existing operations that will effectively achieve operational goals/requirements. Activities result in the development of capital expenditure recommendations.
  • Perform network capacity analysis to determine how to fit what is needed i.e. equipment, services, technology, workforce, into new or existing space of operations. This also requires the simultaneous analyzation and planning for how to move, if necessary, existing programs within HBI.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. A bachelor’s prepared individual with 5 years HBI IE I or comparable experience could qualify for this role.
  • 6 Sigma Blackbelt, LEAN, Industrial Engineering Professional Skills Certification or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Must have minimum two years professional Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Must be an effective and focused project manager. 
  • Working knowledge of CAD and similar technology and software.
