BioScience Account Manager- Inside Sales

The Bio-Science Account Manager (Inside sales) role, is an entry - level sales position that will require the development of sales and technical aptitude covering a portfolio of products in the cell biology, molecular biology, protein (detection, isolation, purification) and imaging areas. The candidate will be forwarded the opportunity and expected to learn and develop those skills necessary to perform all job duties.
Key Duties:
  • Achieve/ surpass all assigned sales targets and quotas.
  • Drive and manage the sales of bioscience consumables and benchtop instruments within an assigned territory.
  • PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: Understand and use product features, benefits and applications to successfully promote and complete the sale of products and services. Wet lab experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Cutlure, PCR, and Protein expression.
  • SALES TRAINING: Participate in programs as presented by the company to develop appropriate selling skills consistent with Thermo Fishers Scientifics’ philosophy, policies and procedures. Overnight travel may be required for these trainings. Be able to travel as needed for required trainings & meetings.
  • ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT: Strategically sell and influence purchasing decisions. Develop, write, and execute a business plan for managing assigned territory annually, updated quarterly. Develop presentations and customer proposals with assistance of support teams (i.e. leadership, product specialists, marketing etc.).
  • Host customer facing meetings & events (i.e. vendor shows, seminars etc.); be able to travel for quarterly customer visits.
  • COMMUNICATION: Pro-actively make outbound telephone calls to all organizational levels and functional areas where purchasing decisions are made. Demonstrate use of telephone selling skills, such as making good opening statements, connecting with the customer, building relationships, and asking open-ended and high gain questions to determine needs. Provide solutions using our products, creating the value proposition and closing the deal.
  • Learn and / or demonstrate required computer skills within the requirements of the job description. Maintain assigned equipment and tools provided by the Company in clean and working condition. Communicate account objectives and action plans to management via weekly calls and reports as well as other communication vehicles. Complete, submit, and deliver expense reports to DM within 30 days from time the expense has occurred.
  • TECHNICAL COMPREHENSION: Provide product and other relevant information to customers via daily phone and email contact and quarterly field visits for all aspects of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s business to generate sales. Utilize existing and potential customer status regarding Company and competitors’ products in strategic selling presentations. Support marketing programs and programs in other territories as assigned by the Sales Manager, and assume a leadership role in doing so.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL: Demonstrates a positive attitude and desire to succeed. Displays Professionalism and develops Consultative and Strategic Selling Skills. Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, be highly organized and exhibit superior communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives required.
Additional and other requirements:
  • EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field; or the equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
  • EXPERIENCE: Preferred lab, selling and/or customer contact experience. Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or like programs required.
