Sensory Co-op at Boston Beer PA Brewery

We are currently hiring for our next Sensory CO-OP at our production facility for Jan 2020- June 2020.

This position will support daily production and Sensory projects at the Pennsylvania Brewery location. Sensory Projects include building and expanding the training program, daily release panels, special projects, etc. Focus is on sensory for beer, cider and other products, as requested.

What You'll Do:
  • Assure highest sensory quality of our product
  • Help to ensure the day-to-day quality of the product by monitoring the sensory characteristics of the brands various processing stages
  • Maintain records for quality tracking
  • Assist in managing and maintaining all aspects of the Sensory panel
  • Assist in training of new panelists and panel assessment techniques, as required.
  • Prepare, conduct and monitor all types of sensory panels including stability studies
  • Includes daily panel, IN/OUT panel, Ranking, Triangle Tests, Duo-Trio Tests, etc.
  • Gathering samples, prepping for panel, scheduling panel, running panel, collecting data and reporting
  • Maintain lab organization, including ordering new ingredients and cleaning up before and after each panel
  • Create and organize shipments for approvals as necessary
  • Learn how sensory assists in assuring quality in an active production brewery.

What We're Looking For:
·        Must be enrolled in brewing program or have B.S. in Brewing; B.S. in Psychology, Food Science Technology, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
·        Previous sensory experience preferred.
·        Proven ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 
·        Knowledge of Brewery operations preferred. Proven ability to make knowledgeable, quick decisions in a fast- paced environment.
