Concrete Lab Technician

Euclid Chemical is looking for a candidate with solid technical skills and an eye for detail to join the team as Concrete Lab Technician.
The Concrete Lab Technician will conduct chemical, engineering and physical laboratory tests. These tests will be primarily based on experimental designs to develop new products, improve existing products, evaluate competitive materials and analyzes the test data by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research, or process control.
  • Conduct chemical, physical, and engineering tests on experimental formulas and competitive products.
  • Document results of tests, analyses, and maintain lab books in an acceptable manner. Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
  • Prepare experimental products following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Test and analyze products such as concrete, cementitious repair products, admixtures for concrete, cement and other raw materials to determine their physical, chemical, and engineering properties.
  • Become proficient in answering inquiries on product usage, competitive product comparisons, web-site navigation, product specifications, repairs, problems, environmental regulations, construction and technical questions.
  • Coordinate receipt of telephone, fax, and mailed inquiries regarding product testing/usage and respond accordingly.
  • Provide written and verbal technical support and product recommendations to the sales force and customers for the CP division’s product line.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education:
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 
  • Preferred: Associate degree (A.A.) from a college or technical school
Experience:
  • At least three months related experience and/or training
  • Experience working with Concrete required

  • Communication/Language:  Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, industry standards and specifications (e.g. ACI & ASTM) operating, maintenance, procedures, work instructions, and manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Intermediate ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning /Problem Solving Skills: High ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

  • Interpersonal Skills:  Effective Team Player with ability to manage internal and external project communication and relationships across regional and global groups.
