Mechanical Engineer

While working within our New Customer Engagement Team (NCE), our Mechanical Engineers utilize CAD software to generate designs and technical proposals, review design work with customers and collaborate with our Level 5 manufacturing team to expedite samples, validate design work and release the products to manufacturing.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Use 3D CAE tools to create new dimensioned part design database from customer created documents, sketches and/or interaction with inventor. Tools include: pro/Engineer, Solidworks, Fusion360, Sketchbook
  • Establish detailed knowledge of Fii's Level 5 operations in order to guide customers design and tooling choices, including use of soft tool versus hard tool methods for sheet metal and plastic.
  • Modify drawings, existing prints and configurations using 2D and 3D CAE software.
  • Collaborate with customers, Operations and NCE functional peers to implement Design For Manufacturability (DFM) requirements on part designs destined for assembly in Wisconsin's Smart Manufacturing Center (SMC).
  • Collaborate with 3rd party services, Fii Level 5 manufacturing to expedite samples of new part designs for design verification.
  • Host customer's visit to Level 5 manufacturing when necessary to communicate Fii's capabilities or, evaluate sample results.
  • Collaborate with project team to insure assigned work proceeds to the agreed upon master schedule.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested or assigned by Sr. Mechanical Engineer or, Product Design team leader.

Ideal Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • Proficiency with CAD software packages: Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, as noted above
  • Familiarity with simulation or analytic add-in tools for CAD environment
  • Familiarity with Agile
  • Microsoft Office proficiency: Excel, Power point, Word. MS Project (preferred)
  • English language proficiency: Strong written communications and verbal skills
  • Ability to travel quarterly
