Designer
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review 2-D drawings and 3-D models in CAD of heavy equipment.
- Perform drawing review and evaluate interference in worst case tolerance stack up conditions
- Conceptually develop new designs and improvements to current designs.
- Provide high quality, reliable, safe and cost-effective mechanical designs.
- Support manufacturing personnel and outsource vendors in resolution of equipment design or manufacturing issues when required.
- Maintain compliance with all engineering standards, accepted practices, company policies and procedures.
- Produce structured BOM’s and proper documentation for new and/or changed designs.
- Perform other duties as appropriately delegated by the manager.
Requirements:
- Must have at least 3 years of experience as a designer
- Must be proficient with Solidworks 2009 – 2014 and AutoCAD 2007 – 2014.
- Must have working knowledge of Solidworks PDM work group
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standard.
- Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes and tolerances
- Thorough understanding of weld symbols and weld processes.
- Knowledge of weldments, sheet metal and machining processes.
- Must have good analytical knowledge of worst case tolerance stack up situations.
- Experience with heavy equipment design.
- Nuclear industry experience is preferred but not absolutely required.
- Must be detail oriented and quality oriented person with a strong work ethics
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team on multiple projects on accelerated schedules.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills – writing and verbal.
- 5% travel required.
