Manufacturing – EXCEL Intern – Welding Engineer

Responsibilities

Provide welding engineering support to the Body production organization.

• Knowledge of joining processes that may include:
o Welding processes – spot, mig, plasma, laser welding
o Aluminum Spot welding
o Sealer & Adhesive Vehicle requirements
o Clinch & Rivet Applications
o Drawn Arc Stud Welding
o Projection weld nut welding
• Maintain, implement and continuously improve process control methods for the body shop welding, fastening, sealing & adhesive applications to include:
• Provide plant floor troubleshooting, training and problem solving to root cause analysis
• Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas
• Be a technical resource for manufacturing engineers, skilled trades and production teams
• Process validation experience with new equipment build, installation and start-up
• Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to the manufacturing process
• Provide a safe work environment & comply with all policies
• Work with engineering & production teams for quality, warranty & cost improvement activities
• Coordinate input from internal/external customers to meet customer needs and/or perceptions

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering from an accredited college or university
• Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale 
• Preferred graduation date: Spring 2021, Fall 2021, Spring 2022, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Fall 2023
• Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

• Prior internship experience in automotive, technology or manufacturing!
