Scheduling and Analytics Trainee

Scheduling and analytics trainees will gain knowledge and training in Seaboard Foods’ fresh pork processing plant, specifically in product specifications on the cut floor, scheduling, shipping and logistics. Trainees will receive management, departmental, and leadership training necessary to prepare them for a scheduling, analytics or other supply chain focused role within Seaboard Foods. The role of accountability could be in the pork processing plant in Guymon, Okla. or could end up in the corporate office in the Kansas City metro area in the future. Upon completion of the training period, scheduling and analytics trainees will be prepared for a role of accountability in transportation, scheduling, supply chain or analytics. RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.
·        Understand shipping, traffic, transportation systems and standard operating procedures, as well as the coordination between sales, scheduling, shipping and transportation.
·        Understand plant scheduling, production and the warehousing system.
·        Schedule plant production and finished good items to produce based on sales.
·        Schedule and monitor shipping schedule and customer loads.
·        Work within Tableau to create reports and dashboards for business users.
·        Understand warehousing strategy and inventory storage for both internal and external locations.
·        Assist in the development of inventory reporting focused on improving accuracy and minimizing cost.
·        Support internal or customer projects aimed at improving quality, pricing, shortages, overages, shipping or any other related opportunities.
·        Analyze data to identify areas of opportunity and maximize profitability across all aspects of operations.
  • Develop and/or enhance Product Availability Models using scheduling tools that support product availability ensuring plant capacities, hog weights & inventory are effectively planned
  • Coordinate the analysis of operational information by collecting and summarizing data using Microsoft software (Excel and Access specifically), Cognos, and SQL Server.
  • Develop and implement enhancements to new and existing databases and other systems within Production Operations and support departments.
  • Analyze data to understand the relationships of weights and yields among different product lines.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college, an Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or two to four years demonstrated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related areas of study include: supply chain operations, industrial engineering, business management, information systems or other related field or experience.
  • Technical minded, numbers-oriented and logistics driven.
  • Enjoys problem solving and works well in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to facilitate, encourage, coach and lead a team to reach set goals.
  • Good critical thinking and judgement skills to reach the best possible solution to a problem.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and create content that is easily interpreted by a diverse group of people such as employees, supervisors, and senior management.
