Wabtec Operations Intern- Summer 2020

Role Summary:
Join our Operations Internship program! Students with interests in supply chain management, engineering, environmental health & safety, LEAN, factory support, welding/fabrication, quality, machining, services, sourcing and materials can gain broad exposure to varied areas of the Locomotive, Mining, Marine systems business. Our Summer Internship Program encourages college students to explore their professional interests while working on larger business projects. Our program goal is to bring your book learning to life, give you an opportunity to see what job opportunities are possible and prepare each student for a potential full -time position when they graduate in one of our challenging leadership programs or direct hire roles.
Experienced leaders mentor student contributions and support their technical and professional development during internships. In addition to valuable work experience, students have the opportunity to build leadership and functional skills through leadership exposure, training workshops on Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, resume writing, presentation skills, communicating in the workplace, interviewing skills, and other selected topics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have completed at least one year of college (Rising Sophomore)
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program, supply chain management program OR be enrolled in an accredited technical Associates program
  • Must have and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale after completing full year of college (or equivalent) no rounding
  • Some assignments could require moderate travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to students pursuing the following degrees: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Engineering/EHS. Additional degrees may be considered including Technical Associates Degrees.

  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles
  • Technical aptitude, critical thinking and ability to problem solve
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks (Maximum of 12)
  • Willingness to take roles at any of our Transportation locations

Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation, drug screen and verification of transcript for GPA requirement.
