Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Columbia, TN 38401

Type: 1-year Temp-to-Hire

Shift: M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM 

Summary

We are seeking a Lab Technician to join the laboratory operations team and support innovation activities. The primary function of this position is to perform analytical characterization and laboratory testing following established procedures, while accurately recording, organizing, and analyzing test data for reliable reporting. The Lab Technician also maintains equipment, documentation, supplies, and work areas to support safe, efficient, and high-quality laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing and analytical characterization following established procedures and quality requirements.

Prepare, label, handle, and organize samples to support accurate and reliable testing.

Operate, clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.

Record, organize, review, and report test data accurately and consistently.

Maintain lab records, equipment logs, calibration records, and other required documentation.

Keep work areas, supplies, and inventory organized to support safe and efficient lab operations.

Communicate test results, observations, and equipment issues to engineers, scientists, and supervisors.

Work with cross-functional teams to support product development, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and innovation activities.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate degree or technical certification in chemistry, materials science, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

Prior laboratory experience in testing, quality, R&D environment preferred.

Ability to follow standard operating procedures, test methods, and safety requirements.

Experience with sample preparation, laboratory testing, and basic analytical equipment preferred.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to record, organize, and review data accurately.

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry systems.

Ability to maintain organized work areas, documentation, supplies, and equipment records.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional teams.
