Digital Transportation Intern

The 2027 Ulta Beauty Internship is a structured 10-week program designed to develop future talent and provide interns with unique and impactful development experience. This program is tailored for rising college Juniors and Seniors, offering Corporate, Field, and Distribution Center internship tracks. The internship will be hybrid for Corporate interns and in-person for Distribution Center and Field interns. Interns will gain hands-on experience in Ulta Beauty’s operations while contributing to business needs, engaging in meaningful projects, and broadening their professional development. The internship program provides real-world experience directly related to academic discipline and career goals, offering a better understanding of career options.

TEAM OVERVIEW

Join Ulta Beauty’s eCommerce Transportation team, where we start the Guest and work backward to redefine how products move through our eCommerce network. The team is responsible for transportation strategy, parcel carrier management, delivery speed initiatives, transportation technology, data analytics, and innovation. As digital commerce continues to grow, the team uses advanced analytics, AI-enabled tools, simulation modeling, and strategic partnerships to improve delivery reliability, increase visibility, optimize costs, and enhance the guest journey from checkout through delivery.

The team plays a critical role in supporting Ulta Beauty’s growth by developing transportation solutions that improve speed, service, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

As an intern, you will contribute to the following priorities:

  • Partner cross-functionally with Transportation, Supply Chain, Digital Commerce, Technology, Analytics, and Guest Experience teams to support initiatives that improve delivery speed, service, and the guest experience.
  • Analyze transportation, carrier, fulfillment, and guest experience data to identify performance trends, root causes, and measurable improvement opportunities.
  • Support projects focused on improving eCommerce delivery speed, carrier performance, delivery promise accuracy, and transportation network optimization.
  • Assess opportunities to reduce transportation dwell time, improve shipment flow, and address operational bottlenecks across the digital fulfillment network.
  • Evaluate post-purchase delivery pain points, including package tracking, delivery visibility, “Where Is My Order?” (WISMO) contacts, and Package Not Received (PNR) claims.
  • Develop or enhance dashboards, reporting tools, KPIs, and performance scorecards that improve visibility into transportation cost, service, speed, reliability, and guest outcomes.
  • Use data visualization and analytical tools to communicate insights and support leadership decision-making.
  • Assist with advanced analytics, AI, and simulation models used to evaluate transportation scenarios, network design opportunities, carrier allocation strategies, and service outcomes.
  • Investigate business challenges, develop recommendations, and clearly communicate potential solutions using structured analytical methods.
  • Support transportation innovation initiatives, including predictive analytics, automation, emerging delivery capabilities, and next-generation transportation technologies.
  • Deliver a capstone project and executive presentation highlighting findings, recommendations, and expected business impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience with data visualization or analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Alteryx, or similar technologies.
  • Interest in supply chain, transportation, logistics, eCommerce, guest experience, or AI-enabled business solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present insights to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, collaboration, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, modeling, or simulation tools is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a rising junior or senior enrolled in an accredited undergraduate university in Summer 2027.
  • Previous work experience and active involvement in campus organizations, leadership activities, or extracurricular programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated interest in transportation, supply chain, eCommerce, analytics, technology, innovation, or business strategy.
