As a PLC Associate Field Engineer, you will be crucial to Automated Logic’s business through the field installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLC-based control systems created specifically for each customer.
We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused team member with experience in controls, electrical systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, industrial networking, or PLC technology. You will work on increasingly complex control systems while developing your knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC platforms and supporting the successful delivery of mission-critical projects.
The first assignment for this role will be located in Sullivan, Indiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Allen-Bradley PLC Technical Execution: Assist with ControlLogix and CompactLogix panel checkout, wiring verification, I/O point-to-point testing, device terminations, sensor and actuator troubleshooting, EtherNet/IP communication checks, and controls commissioning to help ensure systems operate as designed.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate Allen-Bradley PLC checkout sheets, I/O test records, redlines, deficiency logs, network notes, and daily updates while communicating controls status clearly to the team and customers.
- Travel & On-Site Presence: Ability to travel up to 50% as project needs require and be on site daily as required to support field execution, commissioning activities, customer coordination, and project schedules.
- Ready to Grow: Build Allen-Bradley PLC knowledge through hands-on field exposure, self-directed learning, and mentorship. We expect you to seek out system complexity, ask good troubleshooting questions, and take on more commissioning responsibility as you advance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of professional experience in Controls, HVAC, Electrical, Information Technology, Industrial Networking or PLC systems
- 1+ years of experience of PLC-based control systems
- Valid and current Driver’s License and ability to be insured by the company's insurance carrier
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and using lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade
- Ability to be on site daily and travel up to 50% based on project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Background: Degree, technical certificate, military training, or hands-on experience in HVAC controls, DDC systems, electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, Allen-Bradley PLCs, or a related technical field
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, Studio 5000, RSLinx or FactoryTalk Linx, DDC controls, control panels, electrical schematics, low-voltage wiring, BAS integration, EtherNet/IP, and TCP/IP networking
- Communication: Ability to explain technical info to non-technical people and work well within a team
- Software: Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications
