As Contingent Automation Technician I, you will work at Novo Nordisk through KellyOCG, supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing automation and process control systems. This full-time role provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment while developing technical skills in automation, instrumentation, and control systems.
What You'll Do
As an Automation Technician I, you will support the reliability, uptime, and performance of process control systems across the site. Responsibilities include:
- Support troubleshooting activities during process downtime.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair control system hardware.
- Perform routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures and documentation.
- Support the installation and maintenance of control system equipment.
- Assist with managing automation hardware inventory and spare parts.
- Support initiatives to maintain and improve process control systems.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
- Develop knowledge of site automation and process control systems through ongoing training and self-development.
- Follow automation, IT, quality, and compliance standards.
- Utilize cLEAN® tools to support problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain a Quality Mindset focused on risk management and compliance.
- Follow all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electronics, Computer Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
OR
- High school diploma (GED equivalent) with four (4) years of relevant experience supporting instrumentation, automation, or process control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting and maintaining automation or process control systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies and systematic problem-solving techniques.
- Familiarity with:
- PLCs (Rockwell, Siemens)
- HMI systems
- DCS/PCS platforms (DeltaV, iFix)
- Historians (OSI PI, iBatch)
- SCADA systems
- MES platforms (Syncade, PAS-X)
- Microsoft SQL
- Basic understanding of automation systems within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, beverage, cosmetic, or similar manufacturing environments.
- Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for up to a 12-hour shift.
- Move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds.
- Routinely operate and inspect manufacturing equipment using hands and manual dexterity.
- Ascend and descend ladders and work at elevated heights as required.
- Work safely around industrial equipment, hazardous materials, and loud environments while using required personal protective equipment.
- Work in cold environments or confined spaces when necessary.
- Meet vision and colour vision requirements, if applicable.
- Obtain and operate motorised equipment or vehicles if required by the role.
Position Details
- Contingent role through KellyOCG
- Full-time Day Shift
- Monday -Friday, will move to 2-2-3 schedule
- Start date: ASAP
- Assignment length: 6 months up to 2 years
- Opportunity to extend or convert based on performance and business needs
Contingent Employment Statement
This is a contingent position. If selected, you will be employed by KellyOCG and assigned to support Novo Nordisk's manufacturing operations.
