Systems Test Engineer - Automation, Early Career (6719)

What you'll do

  • Work with a cross functional team to help develop and perform testing on our diverse satellite network ecosystem.
  • Write test automation to include pipeline development, test framework and API support for our satellite network modems and terminals.

The day-to-day

  • Prepare automated test procedures, debug failed tests, automate manual tests and support customer needs to guide the effort to develop and build custom test hardware and automation using company and industry standards.
  • Shepherd test system deployment from hardware/software integration, to use in design verification, to full-rate production.

 

Additional Details:

  • This position is site-based. Site‑based employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day work week. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility.

What you'll need

  • Education: Completion of Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
  • Citizenship: This position requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Additional:
    • Ability to comprehend complex system architectures and find creative approaches to automating repetitive tasks and activities
    • Familiar with at least one software configuration management tool: e.g., Perforce, Git, Artifactory, CVS, etc.
    • Familiar with at least one programming language: e.g., C/C++, Java, Python, Bash, Ruby, etc.
    • Networking knowledge (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, Multicast, MPLS, REST, etc.)
    • Comfortable with the Linux environment and common tools
    • Excellent communication and team skills
    • Must be able to work out of our Carlsbad office

What will help you on the job

  • Strong software skills in Python
  • Automated test framework and tool experience
  • Experience with wireless communications or satellite communications systems (SATCOM) or Radio Frequency systems
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Salary range

$77,000.00 - $122,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $96,000.00- $144,000.00/ annually
