If you studied Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Science, or a related field, you may have assumed your next step would be working inside an architecture or design firm.

We'd like to introduce you to another path.

Naylor Commercial Interiors is seeking an early-career professional who is fascinated by the connection between design documents and what actually gets built in the field.

We are a specialty contractor focused on coatings, wallcoverings, and architectural finishes. Our work requires us to understand the architect's design intent, translate construction documents into executable scopes of work, coordinate with general contractors and other trades, and recognize when changes to the documents affect our work.

We're looking for someone who wants to become exceptionally good at that.

What You'll Do

You'll work directly with Naylor's leadership and project management team while learning the construction process from both the office and the field.

Your responsibilities will grow to include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and project documents
• Comparing revised documents against previous drawing sets
• Identifying potential scope changes and additional work
• Assisting with RFIs and change documentation
• Helping prepare pricing for change events and additional scope
• Tracking ASIs, DCNs, RFIs, bulletins and drawing revisions
• Performing quantity takeoffs and scope reviews
• Reviewing finish schedules and specifications
• Coordinating with general contractors, architects, designers and field teams
• Visiting active construction sites
• Comparing field conditions against construction documents
• Assisting with procurement, scheduling and project coordination
• Developing specialized knowledge of coatings, wallcoverings and architectural finishes

Who We're Looking For

This position may be an especially strong fit if you have a bachelor's degree or are completing a degree in:

Architecture • Interior Architecture • Interior Design • Construction Science • Construction Management • Architectural Engineering

Previous construction or design experience is helpful, but it is not required.

We are more interested in how you think.

You don't need to arrive knowing everything about coatings or architectural finishes. We'll teach you our trade.

What is much harder to teach is curiosity, attention to detail, ownership and the instinct to notice when something doesn't add up.

Why This Role Is Different

This isn't an administrative Assistant Project Manager position.

You'll be developing expertise at the intersection of:

Architecture + Construction + Project Management + Architectural Finishes + Contract Management

You'll learn how design decisions affect scope, labor, material, schedule and cost—and how successful specialty contractors manage those changes.

You'll also spend time in the field.

We believe someone who reviews construction documents should understand what those documents look like when they're actually being built.

One day you may be reviewing an architectural finish schedule in our Dallas office. Another day you may be standing on a project with the superintendent comparing the drawings against an actual field condition.

That connection between drawing and building is central to this position.
