Engineer I/II/Senior - Design Division

ENGINEER – DESIGN DIVISION

 

JOB SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

USDI is seeking an Engineer I/II/Senior to join our Springfield, MO team in our Design Division. The Engineer, under direction of the hiring manager and senior engineers, performs project-based engineering, interacts with other engineers, clients, and officials for project tasks. The Engineer will have field responsibilities including site visits, surveys, and inspections. Field responsibilities include some travel as well as the ability to maneuver field job site conditions.

 

Engineer I Specific Job Duties include:

  • Perform field inspections, equipment testing and troubleshooting, technical support, and more under supervision
  • Perform routine natural gas design calculations/modeling of piping, pipelines, regulator stations, relief valves and other equipment under direct supervision
  • Provide engineering support on projects & technical studies
  • Set up files, sheets, title blocks, notes, and general details as part of the overall drawing package 
  • Assist in preparing CAD drawings in accordance with company standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Communicate with other Engineers, Project Managers, and Field Personnel to determine drawing requirements, obtain technical advice, report project status, and establish priorities
  • Interface with clients on a semi-regular basis
  • Maintain compliance records and documentation
  • Understand, review, and comply with state and federal pipeline safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Engineer II Specific Job Duties include:

  • Perform field inspections, equipment testing and troubleshooting, technical support, and more independently
  • Perform complex natural gas design calculations/modeling of piping, pipelines, regulator stations, relief valves and other equipment with review
  • Provide engineering support on projects & technical studies; lead multiple small to medium projects simultaneously with supervision
  • Set up files, sheets, title blocks, notes, and general details as part of the overall drawing package. Understand and identify drawing package requirements based on the size and scope of the project.
  • Manage & prepare CAD drawings in accordance with company standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Communicate with other Engineers, Project Managers, and Field Personnel to determine drawing requirements, obtain technical advice, report project status, and establish priorities
  • Maintain compliance records and documentation
  • Understanding of 49 CFR Part 192 & ASME B31.8
  • Interface with clients on a regular basis
  • Understand, review, and comply with state and federal pipeline safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Senior Engineer Specific Job Duties include:

  • Perform field inspections, equipment testing and troubleshooting, technical support, and independently
  • Perform complex natural gas design calculations/modeling of piping, pipelines, regulator stations, relief valves and other equipment independently
  • Act as lead engineer for all assigned projects & technical studies
  • Independently manage & lead multiple small, medium, and large-scale projects simultaneously
  • Coordinate and manage external business partners
  • Assign tasks to team members, maintain communication with clients, and manage project & schedule
  • Create project file structures, project outlines, coordinate with team members to identify and execute drawing packages based on size and scope of projects.
  • Manage team that prepares CAD drawings in accordance with company standards, procedures, and specifications; provide troubleshooting and assistance with CAD.
  • Communicate with other Engineers, Project Managers, and Field Personnel to determine drawing requirements, obtain technical advice, report project status, and establish priorities
  • Maintain compliance records and documentation
  • Strong understanding of 49 CFR Part 192 & ASME B31.8
  • Interface and be primary contact for clients
  • Understand, review, and comply with state and federal pipeline safety regulations
  • Stamp drawings
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AutoCAD (Civil 3D & Plant 3D preferred) experience
  • Project Management, Natural Gas, or Utility experience
  • Computer aptitude, especially with various applications including MS Office & SharePoint/Onedrive
  • Working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192 & ASME B31.8
  • Experience with manuals, documenting standards, material specifications, and BOMs
  • Experience with GPS and/or GIS systems and software

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Engineer I Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • A 4-year engineering or engineering technical degree from an accredited university or college
  • Engineer Intern/Engineer In Training Certificate
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass initial and continuous federally required Operator Qualification evaluations
  • Ability to effectively operate various company-supplied equipment and tools
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, management, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for co-workers, clients, and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background and driving check, employment history, and drug screening 

 

Engineer II Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • A 4-year engineering or engineering technical degree from an accredited university or college
  • Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain P.E. within four years
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass initial and continuous federally required Operator Qualification evaluations
  • Ability to effectively operate various company-supplied equipment and tools
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, management, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for co-workers, clients, and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background and driving check, employment history, and drug screening 

 

Senior Engineer Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • A 4-year engineering or engineering technical degree from an accredited university or college
  • Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain P.E. within one year
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass initial and continuous federally required Operator Qualification evaluations
  • Ability to effectively operate various company-supplied equipment and tools
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, management, and clients.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for co-workers, clients, and the public through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a background and driving check, employment history, and drug screening
