Position Summary:

The Office of Admissions and Recruitment at University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for an Admission Counselor. This position is responsible for supporting the university’s strategic enrollment goals through comprehensive recruitment and admissions efforts, including building and maintaining relationships with high school counselors, prospective students, and their families. The role also represents the institution to prospective students and educational partners and contributes to the attraction, admission, and enrollment of a diverse student population. 

This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position, with a salary of $44,000 per year.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct high school visits in the assigned territory to promote UW-Platteville's campuses, meet with prospective students, parents/guardians, and high school staff.  
  • Meet established recruitment goals by communicating with, counseling, and motivating prospective and admitted students through the admissions process, including educational planning and career guidance.
  • Serve as one of the university representatives for college educational fairs, national educational fairs, high school college nights, and other recruiting events as assigned. This will include traveling, evening, and weekend responsibilities both on and off campus. 
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Recruitment and participate in ongoing training to support the University Strategic Plan and Strategic Enrollment Plan while maintaining knowledge of academic programs, admissions policies, and university information.
  • Represent the university through recruitment activities, including high school visits, college fairs, campus events, and providing information sessions and tours to prospective students and guests.
  • Review, evaluate, and respond to student applications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Plan and execute admissions and outreach events, including identifying opportunities, coordinating logistics, and securing necessary resources.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment programs and events, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver targeted communications and admissions messaging to internal and external audiences in support of recruitment goals.
  • Identify, promote, and maintain internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.
  • May supervise staff and/or lead a program area.
  • Comply with applicable safety rules and regulations, including required training and drills.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university attained by the position's start date. 
  • Experience in student recruitment, admissions, or related enrollment management processes.
  • Experience using CRM and student information systems (SIS).
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information to large and small groups.
  • Demonstrated ability with successful planning and organizing of events and activities. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the conditions to drive a state vehicle.
