Senior Analyst
U3 Advisors is seeking a Senior Analyst to join our team full-time in our New York City, Boston, Chicago, or Philadelphia offices. Senior Analysts work on projects across our consulting firm, providing critical team support for our clients in cities across the country.

Position Details
The Senior Analyst position will work across a diverse range of projects with senior staff and teams, providing support for project management, research and analysis, and client deliverables. The Senior Analyst will be assigned to a group of projects, which may include market analytics; geospatial analyses; real estate valuation; analysis of economic, demographic, and civic trends; and other research in support of a wide variety of client engagements. Engagements include preparing graphics, maps, and reports for client use. In addition, the Senior Analyst will participate in preparing proposals and other marketing efforts on behalf of the firm.
Project types may include, for example:
- Real estate and urban design strategy for universities growing new research partnership areas, expanding student housing, or connecting to communities beyond their campus.
- Designing real estate partnerships and transactions to best serve multiple goals related to mission and financial value.
- Economic development strategy for place-based organizations like downtowns and neighborhood organizations.
- Local procurement and hiring analytics for large employer collaboratives seeking to grow their local economic impact.
- Evaluating employee and student housing and commuter patterns to help institutions develop supply- and demand-side housing interventions
Sample tasks and responsibilities may include:
- Analyze market, real estate, demographic, and institutional data, research best practices for urban real estate and economic development and current market trends or environments.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS Desktop [SO1] ArcGIS Pro) to create maps and perform spatial analytics, load maps and interactive databases onto ArcGIS Online.
- Prepare graphically engaging PowerPoint presentations, reports, memos, and other materials for current clients.
- Coordinate and schedule project team meetings, prepare agendas and meeting minutes, and follow up on assignments.
- Assist in business development including drafting proposals, development of responses to RFPs for consulting services, and preparation of marketing materials for prospective clients.
Position Requirements
U3 seeks candidates with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, a deep curiosity about equitable growth, cities, and anchor institutions, design sensibilities to communicate complex ideas with clarity, and creativity and initiative to tackle complex, unique challenges. We are looking for candidates with:
- Self-motivation; capable of managing time and tasks across multiple projects independently with minimal instruction.
- Strong independent research skills, including ability to ask research questions, develop research approaches, identify appropriate sources, and adapt as needed to arrive at a solution
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize multiple sources of data to communicate significant outcomes and findings to external audiences
- Experience with complex data analysis, such large dataset management, real estate market data analysis, or census and demographic analysis
- Strong written, graphic, and verbal communication skills, including in visual presentations and written reports
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor, especially when communicating with clients; an ability to actively listen to clients and teammates.
- Software:
- Experience and high proficiency with Microsoft Excel, especially in managing larger datasets; fluency with database structure, advanced functions, and PivotTables a plus.
- Experience and fluency in working with GIS (ArcPro and ArcGIS Online)
- Experience and fluency with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint
- A demonstrated passion for cities, neighborhoods, vibrant streets, and strong communities.
- Ability to contribute to and mesh with a collegial company culture, to work with grace under pressure, and to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- 2+ years of work experience and a master’s degree in urban planning, real estate, or a related field; or some combination of relevant education and work experience. Previous work experience and/or coursework should demonstrate strong analytical and design skills.
Salary & Benefits
U3 offers a competitive compensation package, including salary, the opportunity to earn a bonus, and a generous employee benefits package. Salary and bonus reviews are conducted annually. The starting salary for this position will be within $75,000 - $90,000 and commensurate with experience.
