Summer 2026-Maintenance/Spare Parts Intern- Supply Chain

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance / Spare Parts Management Intern to support our maintenance and reliability team. This role will assist with organizing, identifying, and documenting machine spare parts while helping maintain accurate inventory records. The intern will also assist with creating maintenance documentation and lubrication maps using Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities for Candidates

 

 

  • Identify and classify machine spare parts by type, function, and equipment association.
  • Measure spare parts using tools such as a dial caliper or tape measure to document dimensions and specifications.
  • Print and apply labels for spare parts to improve identification and traceability.
  • Organize and store spare parts in designated parts storage cabinets according to established systems.
  • Conduct weekly spare parts inventory counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Create lubrication maps using Microsoft Excel to help document lubrication points for equipment.
  • Develop “One Point Lessons” using Microsoft Word to support maintenance training and knowledge sharing.
  • Assist with improving spare parts organization and documentation processes.
  • Complete data collection and research, including all phases of planning, gathering, analyzing and reporting the data
  • Provide research on products, competitors, services, processes, and other informational needs
  • Provide stores and divisions with support materials as requested
  • Compile and organize data, summarize findings and present conclusions to team members
  • Create reports and other documentation in response to inquiries or requests in a timely manner
  • Communicate status updates and any potentials issues to the appropriate team members
  • Participate and provide feedback at team meetings
  • Complete cumulative project (summary of internship accomplishments) and present to leadership team

Qualifications for Candidates

 

 

Minimum

  • Open to all majors, must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university with a preferred GPA of 3.0 
  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Kroger Co (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN visa or any other non-immigrant status)
  • Highly motivated student with the desire to take initiative on their own work
  • Highly motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to work in groups or independently
  • Accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to preserve confidentiality of information
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to present information to various levels of the organization
  • Managing multiple priorities between school, work or extra-curricular activities
  • Responds to change as a positive challenge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Significant level of multi-tasking
  • Basic understanding of machine parts and common mechanical component terminology.
  • Ability to identify and describe mechanical components.
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools such as dial calipers and tape measures.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
