Project Management Intern
Position Overview
The Project Management Intern will support Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Scrum Teams in ensuring successful project outcomes. This role provides hands-on exposure to project execution, customer coordination, and operational processes supporting renewable energy and utility-scale storage projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Coordination
- Support Project Managers and Scrum Teams in executing projects with strong delivery performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain and update project tasks within project management systems.
- Assist with project documentation, tracking deliverables, and maintaining project dashboards.
- Support tracking and closeout of punch lists and project documentation.
- Assist in managing internal and external project deliverables to ensure timely completion.
- Help track project RFIs and ensure proper documentation and follow-up.
Project Operations Support
- Assist with purchase order tracking and documentation verification.
- Support invoicing processes and related administrative tasks.
- Monitor project schedules and help identify potential delays or issues.
- Assist in maintaining data accuracy within project management tools and reporting systems.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Participate in project meetings and Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning and daily stand-ups.
- Assist with meeting coordination, documentation of action items, and follow-ups.
- Support professional communication with internal teams, suppliers, and customers as needed.
Industry & Technical Learning
- Gain familiarity with Merit products, technologies, and project documentation.
- Develop an understanding of controls systems, SCADA software, and related hardware and networking concepts.
- Learn about the utility-scale solar and energy storage markets.
- Observe and support configuration or testing processes when applicable.
Position Requirements
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred.
Experience
- Interest in project management principles and practices.
- Internship, academic project, or coursework related to operations, engineering, or project management is a plus.
- Exposure to tools such as Jira, NetSuite, or other project/ERP systems is helpful but not required.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with potential exposure to project sites.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during work hours.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if needed.
- Potential travel up to 25% depending on project needs.
