Entry Level Structural Engineer

Mead & Hunt is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHGR) group in our West Allis, WI office. This position will typically support GHGR, Food & Beverage, and One Water projects and work closely with experienced engineers to develop foundational structural design skills while contributing to technically diverse projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced engineers with the design and analysis of structural systems, including building foundations and equipment supports.
- Prepare and update drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Perform submittal reviews and assist with quality control tasks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical & process engineers and project managers.
- Utilize structural analysis software such as Visual Analysis or RISA.
- Gradually assume increased design responsibility with mentorship from senior engineers.
- Support both fast-paced food & beverage projects and more complex GHGR & One Water projects.
- May visit project sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per the contract documents.
- May attend client meetings – days or nights.
- May assist with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate must have a minimum of:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Structural, or Civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
The preferred candidate will have:
- Previous industrial internship experience
- Familiarity with Visual Analysis and/or RISA
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong enthusiasm for learning and professional development
- Eagerness to grow technical and project‑based skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to seek feedback
This role offers structured mentorship, exposure to a variety of project types, and a clear path for professional development. Engineers will be paired with senior staff and gradually transition into design lead responsibilities as skills and experience grow.
