Automation Controls Engineering Co-op

The Automation Controls Engineering Co Op position for student in the chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering fields at the SI Group.  The position will provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience at a chemical production facility in a part-time capacity while finishing their education.  The successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers in their field on assignments that range from small capital projects to supporting day to day activities.  In addition to the specific assigned projects / tasks, the student will have the opportunity to spend time interacting with and or shadowing various functions on site  (production, logistics, lab, maintenance).

Projects

1. Update AspenOne Process Explorer Graphics and Documentation

  • Convert existing and develop new process graphics using Aspen One Process Explorer. 
  • Convert existing OSI Pi calculation and reports using AspenCalc, SQL++ and Reporting tools
  • Gain exposure to Chemical processes, MS Office, Aspen Historian Software, SQL development and control systems graphics

2. Process and Control System Simulation Setup/Test

  • Assist with configuration of DCS and PLC control systems
  • Develop process graphics and learn programming methods including Structured text, Function Blocks, Sequential Chart, and Ladder Logic

3. Update Control Systems Diagram and documents

  • Update control system diagrams and related documents
  • Learn and apply AutoCAD and\or Visio software.

4. Computer Hardware and Installation

  • Support setup of computers, servers, and related installations.
  • Gain experience with virtualization, computer hardware, and system installation.
