Industrial Automation Sales Engineering Intern

We are looking for engineering students to join the Digital Industries Automation Internship Program - Sales Engineering Track. This position will be based at Alpharetta, GA.

This is a 12-week summer internship program (May 18, 2026 – August 7, 2026) that is designed to help you develop critical B2B sales skills, gain a deep understanding of our go-to-market strategies in the industrial automation sector, and contribute to real business outcomes. This internship will prepare you for a potential opportunity with our full-time 18-month Automation Genesis development program or other entry-level sales roles after graduation.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Applying your technical curiosity while fully embedded with one of our high-performance Vertical, OEM, Solution Partner, Inside Sales, or E-Commerce sales teams, shadowing experienced sales professionals, and building relationships with internal and external partners
  • Participating in sales processes, contributing to team meetings and strategy sessions, and using sales enablement tools, such as CRM systems, opportunity tracking, and pipeline analysis
  • Preparing customer presentations and proposals for customer engagements by leveraging engineering fundamentals and your ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling stories 
  • Documenting customer needs and buying behaviors to inform sales strategies
  • Using your aptitude for solving complex problems and your fresh perspective to identify potential for streamlining, automating, and optimizing sales operations through new technologies and AI-driven solutions

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Rising undergraduate seniors (as of summer 2026) or master's students pursuing a degree in: Industrial Distribution, Industrial/Industrial Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related engineering majors
  • Must be a student at the time of the internship and on track to graduate within one year after the internship (no later than May 2027)
  • Available to work 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, from May 18 to August 7
  • Interest in pursuing a long-term career in technical sales or client growth
  • Resourceful, true problem solvers, who challenge themselves to find the most effective and efficient solutions to complex challenges
  • Desire to have an impact on the future and enable the success of Siemens, our customers, and the world
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and business competencies appropriate for customer-facing relations
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team environments
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be willing and able to relocate to Alpharetta, GA for the summer (housing stipend and mileage reimbursement are provided if required to relocate more than 50 miles from your permanent residence) and travel up to 20% for customer visits, trade shows, and training events
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Previous internship, co-op, or customer-facing experience in sales, engineering, or business development, or participation in business competitions
  • Leadership roles in student organizations, especially those related to sales or sales engineering
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, data analysis tools, or AI/automation technologies
  • Coursework or interest in manufacturing systems or processes, or Industry 4.0
