Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week); 3-4 full work days in office per week

Compensation: $25/hour

Altura is actively recruiting for our summer internship program, and we are seeking an individual with exceptional technical skills, an instinct for problem-solving, and demonstrated interest in the energy efficiency and green building industry. No specific work experience is required; however, it is recommended that applicants have some exposure to the disciplines of mechanical or environmental engineering. 

You’ll work with our team on a well-defined project during your tenure, with an assigned mentor and specific goals which will be reported on at the end of the internship. Your contributions will help drive meaningful energy and environmental performance improvements in the built environment at scale.

PLEASE NOTE: This position requires candidates to have their own transportation and housing in proximity to our Irvine, CA office. Relocation / transportation assistance are not included as part of the compensation package. Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S., and sponsorship is not available for this internship.

Key Responsibilities

• Work effectively as a member of a dynamic, empowered, professional team
• Take an integral role in Altura’s engineering team by creating a robust energy calculation measure template to support our existing and future projects
• Explore creative solutions for data import and integration including methods that leverage AI
• Regularly collaborate with the engineering team on projects geared toward improving building energy efficiency

Desired Qualifications

• Undergraduate candidate, rising junior or senior, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or environmental engineering, or other related fields.
• Basic understanding of heat transfer and electrical power calculations
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Excel and/or Google Sheets
• Technically oriented critical thinker and problem-solver
• Desire to work in a diverse, mission-driven firm with core values of empowerment, data driven results, and evolutionary thinking
